YJV cable and VV cable are basically the same in function, and both belong to the same category of power cables used to transmit and distribute electrical energy, but the difference is also very obvious. The following far cable small series will introduce the difference between the two in detail.

(1) The difference between the name and the insulating raw material

1) VV cable is called copper core polyvinyl chloride insulated polyvinyl chloride sheathed power cable, YJV cable is called copper core crosslinked polyethylene insulated polyvinyl chloride sheathed power cable, YJV insulation material is crosslinked polyethylene; VV insulation is made of polyvinyl chloride.

2) VV is a plastic force cable, YJV is a cross-linked cable, and the insulation layer of YJV cable is better than that of a plastic force cable.

Cross-linked cable: A cable with a cross-linked material for insulation, the most commonly used material being cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE).

(2) The difference in use characteristics

1) Use temperature - VV power cable conductor operating maximum rated temperature of 70 degrees Celsius, short circuit (duration less than 5 seconds) maximum temperature does not exceed 160 degrees Celsius;

YJV crosslinked cable conductor operating maximum rated temperature of 90 degrees Celsius, short circuit (duration less than 5 seconds) maximum temperature does not exceed 250 degrees Celsius.

2) Carrying capacity -- YJV cable operating temperature of 90 degrees, while VV is only 70 degrees, the same cross-sectional YJV cable carrying capacity is large.

(3) The allowable carrying capacity of the wire depends on its allowable operating temperature

The difference in the operating voltage range: Under normal circumstances, the YJV cable works in the voltage range of 6 ~ 500KV, while the VV cable is 1 ~ 6KV. Therefore, VV power cables are generally used in low-voltage environments, while YJV includes high and low-voltage environments, which is why YJV cable manufacturing process requirements are higher.

(4) The difference between price and life

The same specification model, the price of YJV cable is slightly more expensive than the price of VV, which may be the reason why VV power cables are still alive. However, the service life of YJV is longer, and it is more resistant to high temperature and more safe, and in the long run and the safety factor, the use of YJV cable is more cost-effective.

Finally, YJV cable is recommended for residential projects, which is safer and more environmentally friendly. If the budget is really limited, you can choose to use VV power cables in non-residential areas and where the voltage and temperature requirements are not high.
