What is a high voltage cable?

Source : Tianxing Cable | Release date : 2024-05-04
There are many misunderstandings in the cable industry that you do not understand. Today I will take you to explore the so-called high-voltage cable industry. (1) : The voltage reaches 10kv(kW) or more than 10kv(kW) is called a high-voltage cable. (2) : One of the most obvious features of high-voltage cables is that it has only 1-3 cores. (3) : The high voltage cable contains a colloidal insulator (magnesium oxide), outside the online core.

Mineral insulated cables are collectively referred to as low-voltage cables, and the characteristics are exactly the opposite of high-voltage cables.

(1) : Voltage below 10kv(kW) are called low-voltage cables

(2) : Low voltage cable does not contain colloidal insulator (magnesium oxide)

(3) : For low-voltage cables, the number of cores in the case of less than 10kv is collectively called low-voltage cables.

YJV cable and VV cable are basically the same in function, and both belong to the same category of power cables used to transmit and distribute electrical energy, but the difference is also very obvious. Here's a closer look at the differences between the two.

01 Difference between name and insulation material

VV cable is called copper core PVC insulated PVC sheathed power cable

YJV cable is called copper core crosslinked polyethylene insulated polyvinyl chloride sheathed power cable, YJV insulation material is crosslinked polyethylene; VV insulation is made of polyvinyl chloride.

2, VV is a plastic force cable, YJV is a cross-linked cable, YJV cable its insulation layer performance is better than the plastic force cable.

Plastic power cable: plastic insulated and sheathed power cable, referred to as plastic power cable.

Cross-linked cable: A cable with a cross-linked material for insulation, the most commonly used material being cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE).

3. YJV cross-linked the insulation material to improve the heat resistance temperature, while VV did not.

02 Differences in usage features

1, the use of temperature - VV power cable conductor running very high rated temperature of 70 degrees Celsius, short circuit (duration less than 5 seconds) the higher temperature does not exceed 160 degrees Celsius;

2, YJV crosslinked cable conductor running higher rated temperature of 90 degrees Celsius, short circuit (duration less than 5 seconds) higher temperature does not exceed 250 degrees Celsius.

3, carrying capacity - YJV cable operating temperature of 90 degrees, while VV is only 70 degrees, the same cross-sectional YJV cable carrying capacity is large.

Qingdao Tianxing Cable Co., Ltd. focuses on the production of customized wire and cable manufacturers, main: fire wire and cable, power cable, control cable and other products, exported to more than 40 countries and regions around the world, the annual production capacity of 1 billion yuan. 6000 square meters of storage, standing hundreds of millions of inventory, order demand for rapid distribution and delivery, large prices more favorable.
